In March 2024, Elevated Chicago uploaded an ETOD deep dive on vacant lots near transit in Chicago, as part of a project funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Our work focused on two community areas: East Garfield Park and Washington Heights/Roseland/Pullman.
Resident-Led Videos
As part of the vacant lots case studies, we asked community members to speak about the current state of vacant lots and the opportunities they present for community-led redevelopment. Watch the videos below, produced by Rudd Resources, to hear residents’ lived experiences.
Vacant Lots Data
Our partner, the Institute for Housing Studies at DePaul University, helped provide the data on vacant lots in Chicago. Please visit their website for the full breakdown of information.
Community Partners
We would also like to extend a big thank-you to our community partners, Garfield Park Community Council and the Endeleo Institute, for their help organizing community meetings and connecting us with residents for this project.
