The journey to an ETOD policy

In June 2021, the Chicago Plan Commission unanimously approved a new equitable transit-oriented development (ETOD) policy for the city. By year end, the City of Chicago had also set aside money and technical assistance to support ETOD demonstration projects with Elevated Chicago and Enterprise Community Partners, allocating $10 million in its 2022 budget for ETOD, and announcing 18 affordable housing developments near transit hubs. The progress we saw in 2021 has its origins in 2017. Learn about our history.
