Cut the Tape progress, launch of 50-member Task Force

Share

Last month, the City of Chicago announced their progress on the Cut the Tape plan, meant to streamline inefficiencies in urban planning and development within the city and encourage interdepartmental communication. Cut the Tape is part of a larger three-part initiative to: Build Faster; Build Everywhere; and Build Together.  Some plan recommendations are modeled off zoning and development successes in New York City.

The City of Chicago also announced the launch of the 50-member Cut the Tape Task Force, which includes people who have worked with Elevated Chicago on ETOD projects around the city. We are thrilled that ETOD supporters from the community, private, and philanthropic sectors are among the ranks of those working with City leaders on this important city initiative.

The ETOD Working Group, the coalition that supported the 2021 ETOD Policy Plan and the 2022 Connected Communities Ordinance, met in June 2024 to plan the next iteration of its work. The Cut the Tape initiative was one of the main discussion topics for the group, particularly the ways certain goals intersect with existing ETOD priorities and other City programs.
