Column: As ‘L’ trains get more jammed, backpacks a bulging problem

“I think people are just not aware of how much space that takes up,” said Jonathan Cabildo, 39, of Logan Square, who commutes on the jammed Blue Line. “When they pivot or turn, the packs hit everybody around them … I’ve been hit a few times.”y proposed, to which the developer said, “Costs have skyrocketed that made it necessary to keep up with the market.”
